U1: What I listen to...

Taylor Swift. Her music has greatly changed from before. Exploring more than three genres, Swift has managed to create beautiful songs in each of the genres.

Tory Lanez's album, Alone at Prom. I enjoy the '80s feel the album gives.

The arabesque genre. With heavy influence from the Middle East, arabesque is a Turkish genre that's known to be very nostalgic and emotional.

Four men prepare to bow after performing
Coldplay. They are a British rock band, that have produced many top hit songs like Viva La Vida and  Yellow.

The Weeknd. Despite his music playing everywhere last year, I haven't gotten sick of hearing it. He is a great blend of R&B and pop.

My reflection:
Ever since I was a child, I always had a strong interest in music. I would listen to music when I was on a walk, when I'm on a drive, or when I'm doing homework. It's something that takes my mind, and makes it wander into different places. This was something I was unaware of for the longest time. The "What I.." blog post has made me discover this about myself. I realize that the music I listen to has such an impact on my thoughts and how I feel that day. It's a way of expression - if I'm upset, I put on emotional songs, or if I’m happy, I want to get up and dance to some Danse Kuduro, and more. It expresses a lot about an individual as well. For example, there are different stereotypes for people who listen to different artists, like, if someone were to listen to indie music, a lot of people might assume that that individual is more reserved or an introvert. If someone were to listen to pop music, they’re assumed to be louder, and more extroverted. This doesn’t mean it’s automatically true, but we, as individuals, might not be able to help ourselves from associating people with certain stereotypes or beliefs - it is just in our nature. This is why I think it’s so important to know how you are expressing or representing yourself to others.

  1. I enjoyed this post a lot!! I have extremely similar music taste to yours, as Alone at Prom & Folklore are some of my favorite albums of all time. Indie pop and R&B are my favorite genres of music, and I enjoyed learning a little more about some of my favorite artists. Also, if you have a public playlist I would love to listen to it!

  2. I like the simplicity a lot as there’s no way to get confused. Love the use of the images as it helps those who aren’t familiar to the artists connect a face to a name. Improvement wise maybe add some more songs?
